Pinewood Derby Workshops

Super-charge your Pinewood Derby cars in the Sci-Tech Discovery Center's MakerSpace and learn the science that will help your car beat the clock. The Sci-Tech staff will lead you through fun and important concepts like aerodynamics, balance and weight placement.

Workshops include designing and cutting your car (Sci-Tech staff will use heavy machinery), weight placement, sanding, and wheel lubrication. Staff will demonstrate the use of smaller tools, which participants will handle. (Kits and weights must be purchased separately.)

Public workshops on these Saturdays at 10am 2pm:
Dec. 6, 13 and 20
(no workshops on Dec 27 or Jan. 3)
Jan. 10, 17, 24 and 31

Register for one of these public Saturday Workshops at mindstretchingfun.org, or for a private event, email bookit@scitechdiscovery.org to organize another date for your group.

$30 admission includes one car build. If you wish to build additional cars, please book an additional spot. Also, note that a minimum of 6 students must be registered for the class to take place. If the class does not meet minimum enrollment, then the center's booking department will work with you to reschedule your registration or offer a refund.
