Description
A nonprofit behind a popular display at Galleria Dallas returns to the center this spring and summer for an even more impactful art installation, all in the name of bringing clean water to people around the world.
About Paper for Water:
In 2011, Isabelle and Katherine Adams – then 8 and 5 years old – learned that a child was dying every 15 seconds from unclean water and that millions of girls like them were spending their day hauling water rather than attending school. They wanted that to change and founded the nonprofit, Keiki International Foundation, known commonly as Paper for Water.
Paper For Water raises money to fund water and sanitation projects worldwide, creating opportunities for better health, education and brighter futures. Additionally, Paper for Water raises awareness of the world water crisis through educational programming and community engagement. Since its inception, Paper for Water has facilitated water installations in dozens of countries across four continents.
Galleria Dallas first learned about the Adams girls and their accomplishments in 2018 when they collaborated to create “From Fold to Flight,” a magnificent installation of origami butterflies above Galleria Dallas’ Ice Skating Rink to help educate North Texans about the mission of Paper for Water.

2025 Folding the Future Display:
On view April 23 – Sept. 7, 2025
Over the Galleria Dallas Ice Skating Center
Free
This April, Galleria Dallas will again partner with Paper or Water for their most impressive installation to date. Now, at ages 21 and 19, Isabelle and Katherine have worked with volunteers to create “Folding the Future,” which will feature 250 massive origami stars artistically installed above the Galleria Dallas Ice Skating Rink.
The intricately folded creations, which are 34” and 46” tall, feature a bold palette of bright colors designed to dance in the light coming through the signature barrel-vaulted glass ceiling of the iconic shopping destination.
Paper for Water Gallery Wall:
On view April 26–May 25, 2025
Level one near Sephora
Free
Further education about Paper for Water and its mission will be exhibited on the shopping center’s Gallery Wall. The compelling display will not only share the story of the water crisis facing our planet and the impact that it has on children and families but will explore concrete ways North Texans can become involved in the solution.
Water Walk:
Saturday, April 26, 8:30–10:30am
Level one near Sephora
Registration starts at $50; sign up online at paperforwater.org
North Texans are invited to participate in the organization’s second annual Water Walk at Galleria Dallas. Participants will walk through Galleria Dallas, many carrying large water containers, to demonstrate and learn about the difficult conditions facing those who live without access to clean water. Organizers hope to raise enough funds through their time at Galleria Dallas to fund one additional well. Sponsorships are available.
Partnering with Paper for Water is perfectly aligned with the Green Initiative at Galleria Dallas. Through this program, the shopping center demonstrates its commitment to maintaining a resourceful, impactful and sustainable footprint in the Dallas community. Galleria Dallas is proudly an IREM-Certified Sustainable Property.
