Description
The 2025 North Texas Walk for Apraxia event will be held on Saturday, October 18 at Meyers Park Show Barn in McKinney to benefit children with apraxia of speech. Sign up online to join a team and begin fundraising. This is the only walk fundraiser dedicated to raising awareness of childhood apraxia of speech.
At the Walk for Apraxia, you'll gather to celebrate the achievements of Apraxia Stars, and to raise funds to support the programs that help our Stars shine. The Walk for Apraxia sustains educational opportunities, awareness, financial aid, support for research, and much more. By joining the Walk, you are making the Apraxia community tighter, stronger, and ready for the road ahead.
Each of local Walk for Apraxia events has its own unique elements, but they all follow a similar structure. Walk Day begins with a window of time for registration and check in. Then, the day will kick off with a special ceremony recognizing all Apraxia Stars in attendance. Each Apraxia Star will receive a medal and certificate honoring their accomplishments. After that, its time to walk. Everyone in attendance will join together walking as a show of support and to raise awareness in your community.
The funds raised benefit Apraxia Kids, the leading nonprofit that works to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS). This organization educates both families and speech-language professionals so that children with CAS can reach their highest communication potential through accurate diagnosis and appropriate, timely treatment. Raising awareness is one of the most tangible ways that communities at large can help children with apraxia thrive. Collective increased awareness means that children will be diagnosed faster, resulting in better, earlier intervention.
