Description

The Meadows Museum celebrates the creation of new families through foster care, kinship care and adoption. Join other foster families, kinship families, adoptive families and birth families for an afternoon of shared creative experiences. Enjoy art-making, gallery activities, story time, and more as you create new family memories. Strollers are welcome. Changing tables and healthy snacks will be available. No registration required but guests are encouraged to RSVP here on eventbrite.com.

Activities include:

Story Time with Author Allison Olson | 3 pm
Join adoptee and adoptive mom Allison Olson as she reads her book Surrounded by Love: An Open Adoption Story.

Story Time with Highland Park Library | 3:30 pm
Listen to stories read by staff from the Highland Park Library.

Drawing from the Masters | 2:30 PM
Join artist and elementary art teacher Ian O’Brien to explore a variety of drawing techniques.

Scavenger Hunt | ongoing
Enjoy a self-guided journey through the museum.

SMU Music Therapy | ongoing
Drum, sing, and explore sound with students from the SMU Association of Music Therapy.

Community Weaving with Dallas Art Therapy | ongoing
Help create one big weaving that represents the community.

Family Portraits with Hope Cottage | ongoing
Draw a family portrait inspired by a work of art in the museum's collection.

Cubist Masks with American Adoptions | ongoing
