Description

On Saturday, August 20, Dallasites are invited to beat the heat with a variety of summer-inspired activities in Dallas’ shopping and dining destination, Mockingbird Station

1–7pm entertainment:
Daytime festivities kicking off at 1pm include life-sized yard games such as Jenga, Connect Four, Chess, and Checkers.
To cool off between games, attendees can slide down the 27-foot-tall Purple Crush Waterslide or test their surf skills on the Big Wave Surf Machine Simulator. All the while, Mockingbird Station’s various eateries and retailers will be open for snacking, cooling off, or browsing.

The Summer Wave Event will also include fun photo opportunities like local artist Mari Pohlman’s new large-scale surfing mural, continuing her quarterly mural collaboration with Mockingbird Station. Inspired by the event’s summer theme, the new mural depicts two surfers surfing along vibrant blue waves. The surfers’ heads are cut out, leaving a hole for people to poke their heads through for fun photos.

8–11pm entertainment:
In the evening, Mockingbird Station has partnered with Angelika Film Centre to showcase a pop-up movie screening at 8pm. Attendees can wind down with cozy seating and snacks to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) on the second level of Mockingbird Station. Lawn chairs welcome.
