Description

Bring the family to the American Airlines CR Smith Museum to master measurement concepts and learn how they relate to airline operations through hands-on activities using rulers, scales and… chickens! Yes, chickens.

Discover how tall, how heavy and how fast. Young visitors will learn about height, distance, volume and more through quirky, hands-on stations. They’ll use tools to learn about the concepts – sometimes rulers, sometimes cubes and sometimes chickens.

Explore measurement in aviation. How long, how wide and how tall is an airplane? Does runway length matter? How is weight accounted for when loading an aircraft? Families will learn how measurement is used in the day-to-day operation of an airline.

Measurement Rules is a fun, STEM-based summer exhibition created by the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. Summer hours are Thursdays 10am–2pm and Fridays and Saturdays 10am–4pm.
