In a galaxy not so far away, the City of Carrollton will celebrate a free event Tuesday, May 4 from 5–8pm on the Historic Downtown Carrollton Square.
Come in costume to enjoy space-themed arcade games and crafts, take pics in a photo booth, or strike a memorable pose at other photo opportunities around the Square. Carrollton’s “May the 4th Be With You” event has something for everyone.
Participate in a free art class from 5–6pm for even more galactic-sized fun. Spots are limited as the City continues to promote socially-distanced events. Each painter must register to attend with a limit of four people maximum per family. Supplies are included. Walkups will be accepted if the class is not full.
Compete in free family-friendly trivia beginning at 6pm and test your knowledge in the advanced session beginning at 7pm. Spots are limited to allow for social distancing with a maximum of five members per team. Each team must register before the event. Walkups will be accepted if spots are available.
Kids and the young at heart will be able to enjoy making galaxy jars and constellation cards, or simply have fun coloring. To maintain safety measures, face painting and laser tag will not take place.
Come early to pick up snacks or dinner from one of the many eclectic Downtown shops or restaurants. Tasty treats will also be for sale at the event.
Stop at the Carrollton Public Library’s booth, make a craft, and pick up information on the Library’s Summer Reading Program running from June 1 through August 1. This year’s kickoff activity is “Blast Off With Reading” and will begin with readers of all ages picking up a Grab & Go Kit for assembling a rocket to be launched during a virtual event on Tuesday, June 1.
Each kit contains rocket materials, assembly and launch instructions, plus a QR code for event details. Kits will be available beginning Monday, May 24 at Josey Ranch Lake Library (1700 Keller Springs Road) or Hebron & Josey Library (4220 N. Josey Lane) while supplies last and count down to your next adventure in the Library’s Summer Reading Program.
