Movies and art come together in an evening celebrating Bollywood and the DMA’s South Asian art collection with tours, dance performances, and a talk about the history of Bollywood and Bollywood film posters.

Program highlights:

Bollywood Dinner from 6–10pm at the DMA Cafe
Stop by the DMA Cafe to purchase dishes featured in Sri Rao’s Bollywood Kitchen: Home-Cooked Indian Meals Paired with Unforgettable Bollywood Films. Rao will talk about his cookbook at 7pm in Horchow Auditorium; copies of the cookbook are available in the DMA Store. The featured menu includes butternut squash soup, marsala-crusted salmon and grilled asparagus with mustard seeds, and mango cheesecake.

Bollywood Dance Performance featuring Masti Dance, 6:30–7pm, Atrium
Enjoy a variety of Bollywood dances performed by members of Masti Dance. Masti Dance was formed in 2011 to teach students that dance is not only about doing steps but requires a deeper understanding of movement, music, mind, and body.

Performances in the Galleries: From the Royal Court to the Silver Screen: Raga Music goes to Bollywood, 7:30pm and 9pm, Level 3 Landing
The Sangeet Millennium Ensemble will take you on a sonic tour of the journeys of Hindustani classical music compositions from the maharajas’ and nawabs’ courts to the studios and screens of the Hindi film industry. Featuring Dr. Amie Maciszewski on sitar and vocalist Chittranjan Mohan Gupta.

Encore Performance: Bollywood Dance, 8–8:30pm, Atrium
Enjoy an encore performance of a variety of Bollywood dances performed by members of Masti Dance. Masti Dance was formed in 2011 to nurture and teach students that dance is not only about doing steps but requires a deeper understanding of movement, music, mind, and body.

$10 public (some exhibitions require an additional ticket)
