Description
The Kimbell Art Museum celebrates its 50th anniversary on October 4, 2022. On that day in 1972, the Kimbell opened the Louis I. Kahn Building to great acclaim. In honor of our golden anniversary, join these special events and programming.
Celebrate art and community with family-friendly activities, films, performers, light refreshments, and much more on Saturday, October 8. Beginning at 4:30pm on the Kimbell great lawn main stage, there will be special performances by local musical group Cotinga and the soulful international sensation Abraham Alexander and his band.
Tickets are free but required for all attendees, including Kimbell members, adults, children and infants. Register here at eventbrite.com. Kimbell members will receive a unique commemorative gift each day for attending (while supplies last).
In the Galleries
Admission to Murillo: From Heaven to Earth, on view in the Piano Pavilion, will be free for all visitors during our anniversary week, October 4–9, 2022. Admission to the Kimbell's permanent collection in the Piano Pavilion and Kahn Building is always free.
Join Family Spotlight Tours in the Kahn Building. (Meet in the West Lobby.) at 1pm, 2:30pm and 4pm. Learn about the artworks that inspired our creative activities.
Book Baskets: Enjoy family story time with the bilingual book selection—wherever you're comfortable. In the Kahn Building (North and South Galleries).
