Description

On Saturday, June 19, join this evening of music, food and culture at Panther Island Pavilion in celebration of 156 years of freedom, the accomplishments and historical significance of June 19, 1865. The festival features national and local artists, live DJs, kids' zone, food trucks and vendors, and ends with a fireworks show. Bring your lawn chairs, tents, and blankets. Note: No grills, coolers or pets allowed.

Opal's Walk
Before the festival, join Opal's Walk on Saturday, June 19 from 9am–noon held at Evans Ave Plaza, 1050 Evans Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76104. Registration from $25 for individuals. Register online and read more about the history of her walks. Ms. Opal Lee will embark on her annual 2.5 mile walk to recognize the 2.5 years it took for enforcement of Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation to reach Texas and free the slaves.
