Description

March of Dimes presents It Starts With Mom Live, the second annual virtual event bringing moms everywhere together for a virtual-style brunch to discuss the experiences and challenges of motherhood as a community and become their own best advocates in their healthcare and wellness.

On May 7, entrepreneur, author, former Olympic gymnast and proud mom Shawn Johnson East will host celebrities, leading health experts and real moms at the live-streaming event on March of Dimes’ Facebook channel.

Tune in to hear panelists of health experts and advocates discuss how motherhood is changing, covering topics from conception through pregnancy to post-partum, mothering during COVID-19 and community support.

This event is part of Mother’s Day Week, a celebration of moms’ resilience for more than just one day. For more information, please visit ItStartsWithMom.org or Facebook (facebook.com/marchofdimes).

The 75-minute virtual event will include these topics:
-Putting moms’ minds first—prioritizing mental health and wellness: Moms and moms-to-be experienced unexpected changes in the past year. Between a changing workplace and balancing virtual schooling, parents have managed through daily challenges and continue to do so. As we look ahead, women are prioritizing their own mental health and that of their families to build resiliency at home.
-Looking ahead—community support for resiliency: Resilience is a community effort, and it starts by supporting all moms. Now and in the future, moms and moms-to-be need strength and support from their communities—whether it’s their partner, family members, health care providers or trusted friends. Moms need to know who’s around their brunch table that can help them remain resilient as they navigate pre-conception, pregnancy, post-natal and a new normal.
-Family food—making brunch a family activity: Turn brunch into a fun, family-friendly activity where kids can help with meal prep and cooking.
-Family food—snacks the whole family will love: In need of quick, healthy snacks that kids (and parents!) will love? Tune in for everyday snack ideas and tips on selecting ingredients for a well-rounded diet that the whole family will love.
