Description
Since first opened in 1970, Fritz Park has been the place to experience farm life, including hands-on contact with an assortment of animals—from sheep and goats to chickens, mini horses, ducks and rabbits.
These days, Fritz Park Petting Farm opens during the summers as an interactive petting zoo where kids can pet, brush and feed animals like alpacas and mini cows, or take a ride on a mini pony. Located near East 15th Street and East Vilbig Road. The farm entrance is located at the Red Barn in the center of Fritz Park.
Summer Hours:
May 3–June 1, 2025:
Open weekends: Saturdays 10am–5pm; Sundays noon–5pm (closed Mon–Fri)
June 5–July 27:
Open Thursdays–Saturdays 10am–5pm; Sundays noon–5pm (close Mon–Wed)
Admission: $4 for Irving residents; $6 for non-residents; children under 2 are free.
$1 for feed cup; $3 for pony ride (open to kids under 70 pounds). $8 child's combo package includes admission, feed cup, and pony ride.
Petting Zoo: This fully interactive petting zoo experience allows patrons to mingle freely with the animals. Children may pet, brush, and feed the animals. In addition to the petting zoo area, there are several other animals —mini cows and alpacas—in fenced off areas, but still accessible for feeding and petting over the fence.
Pony Rides: Pony rides are available for children weighing under 70 pounds. All of the ponies are handled daily and have wonderful temperaments for the safety of your children. They are watered throughout the day and are given frequent breaks. When not working, they enjoy a 3 acre wooded pasture with its own flowing creek.
Lemur Land: Enjoy the antics of the Ring Tailed lemurs. The lemurs are the focal point walking into Fritz Park Petting Farm. Their shaded pen includes swings, branches to climb on, and they love to be visited by children. Due to USDA licensing requirements, patrons cannot interact with them directly, but they are still a joy to observe in their large play pen.
Baby Chicks: Watch them hatch and see the already hatched babies in the Fritz Park brooder.
Amenities:
Fritz Foodie Cafe: Although guests may bring in food and non-alcoholic drinks, delicious fair-priced food is available at the walk-up cafe. Hot dogs, nachos, tea/lemonade, and water along with specialty items every weekend. Picnic tables throughout the park. Prices range from $1–$5.
Mother's Lounge: A quiet, air conditioned private room for mothers complete with comfortable rocking chairs and a changing table with supplies. Also has a corner book nook area for your toddlers to keep busy while moms are tending to their babies.
Picnic Area: Plenty of shade trees to cool you off.
Public Restrooms: Cleaned and sanitized every morning.
Activity Area: Lego play zone, sand boxes, sidewalk chalk, a construction zone with a mountain of wood chips, wheelbarrows, trucks, shovels, as well as a water play area with water table toys and wading pools.
Saturday Fun Days: Every Saturday there will have special events such as family craft projects, animal races, face painting, and food trucks.
Birthday Parties: Book your birthday party in new Birthday Zone, a private reserved area just for you and your guests. The birthday party coordinator will handle all of the details and help you select the perfect package for your event.
Field Trips: Open to church, school, home-school groups, or day care groups. A special day to add to your summer activities programs.
