Description
The marquee stockyards attraction, there is no better way to experience the essence of what the Stockyards National Historic District is all about. Twice each day, the herd longhorn cattle walk Exchange Avenue, allowing guests to view them, take photos and converse with real cowboy drovers about what it was like to drive cattle to market over a century ago. Every detail of the cattle drive—from the saddles and chaps to the boots and hats—is authentic and historically true.
Watch the Fort Worth Herd cattle drive from the sidewalks and restaurants on East Exchange Avenue. The longhorns reside in the corral located behind the Livestock Exchange Building where they eat, sleep and are well cared for. Best places to view The Herd: any Stockyards Station restaurant with outdoor seating, standing on East Exchange Avenue, and the lawn in front of the Livestock Exchange Building.
Drives are held daily at 11:30am and 4pm (weather permitting). Drives are not held on these holidays: Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. For more information, please contact 817/336-HERD or email theherd@fortworth.com.

Also, to experience even more about life on the trail first-hand, don't miss this behind-the-scenes, interactive program offered from 1:30–2:30pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Children and adults can interact with the drovers while they use tools that were used during the cattle drive Era. activities can include: viewing the grooming and saddling a horse, roping, branding, chuck wagon stories, photo opportunities and cattle drive demos.
The Herd Experience is free and takes place at the Longhorn Pen just behind the Livestock Exchange Building at 131 East Exchange Ave., across the street from the RFD-TV building. Learn more at fortworth.com.
