Description
This fall, the Dallas Zoo is introducing its first-ever Flutter Fest, a weekend-long celebration of butterflies and the incredible monarch butterfly migration. Guests can join the fluttery fun on Saturday, Sept. 6, and Sunday, Sept. 7, from 9am to 4pm. Included with regular Zoo admission, the event will fill the Zoo with interactive activities, educational opportunities, and seasonal family fun.
Texas is a vital stopover for monarchs on their incredible migration from Canada to Mexico, and Flutter Fest offers families a chance to experience that magic up close and learn more. Flutter Fest will coincide with the monarchs’ annual journey through Texas, and will immerse guests in a kaleidoscope of pollinator-themed experiences, from hands-on games to interactive activities, all aimed at inspiring action for butterflies and other essential pollinators.
Flutter Fest activities include:
• Monarch migration game at The Grove
• Monarch tagging game at Wildflower Ridge
• Community partner’s vendor tables
• Native Plant giveaway
The Dallas Zoo’s I Spy Butterflies exhibit will offer a closer look at the beauty and diversity of butterflies, while special keeper chats highlight animals that migrate and the adaptations that help them survive. Additional games, crafts, and pollinator-themed activities will be scattered throughout the park, encouraging families to explore together. Guests are encouraged to use the Zoo’s digital map to “flutter” their way through all the activities.
