Description
Keller Parks and Recreation partners with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to sponsor two free fishing events annually for local kids and families. 2023 days are Saturdays January 28 and June 3.
-In January (on a Saturday during the last two weeks of the month) the pond at Bear Creek Park will be stocked with rainbow trout
-In June (always on the last Saturday of the month for Texas Parks and Wildlife's Free Fishing Day), the pond behind Town Hall will be stocked with freshwater catfish. Stocking dates are subject to change because of weather and fish availability.
This free event is for anglers 16 years and younger. Bring your fishing gear, and try to be the best angler as the pond is stocked. Make sure kids bring an adult fishing buddy. There will be sheets and rulers on-site for you to record your catches and then turn in at the end of the event.
Please make sure you bring your own supplies. (You can use items in your kitchen as bait as all that are listed have been used successfully: mini marshmallows, corn, and even skittles).
