Start your year off on the right foot (or left foot) and get outside with a ranger as you join one of two first day hikes through the trails at Ray Roberts Lake State Park.

10am–noon at the Isle Du Bois Unit, 100 PW 4137, Pilot Point, TX 76258-8944
Meet at the Hawthorne Campground Parking Lot and join a ranger-led hike on the 2.2-mile Randy Bell Scenic Trail. Aside from getting a good workout, you'll also learn about some of the native flora and fauna of North Texas. For more information, contact Rick Torres at 940/686-2148, ext. 237 or rick.torres@tpwd.texas.gov.

2–4pm at the Johnson Branch Unit, 100 PW 4153, Valley View, TX 76272-7411
Meet at the Dogwood Camping Loop next to the Park Map sign, then have fun burning some of those holiday calories while taking in the beautiful winter scenery along the Dogwood Canyon Trail. It will be about a 2-mile moderate hike. Visitors are welcome to bring their friendly dogs on a leash. For more information, contact Kate Juenger at 940/637-2294 or katelyn.juenger@tpwd.texas.gov.
