Lyric Stage’s 2019/2020 season at the Majestic Theatre celebrates the power and presence of women. Its season opener at Dallas' historic Majestic Theatre is the international hit Evita, written by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sir Tim Rice, whose other hits include Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
This Tony Award-winning musical, set in Argentina between 1934 and 1952, charts the ambitious Eva Duarte on her journey from poor, illegitimate child to her meteoric rise as Eva Peron, the most powerful woman in South America before her death from cancer at age 33.
The events of Evita’s life are presented entirely in song and are commented on by the show’s narrator, Che. Well-known numbers from this Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber musical masterpiece include “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “Oh What a Circus,” “Buenos Aires” and “Another Suitcase in Another Hall.” Catherine Carpenter Cox, Lyric Stage’s Eva Peron from Lyric Stage's 2006 production of Evita, will reprise her role.
Tickets from $29.50.
