In honor of Earth Day, guests are invited to be outdoors in nature at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden.
Window to the Wild Bird Show
On Earth Day on Thursday, April 22 at 10:30am, Window to the Wild Bird Show performs at the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn. After the flight program, enjoy a close encounter and Q&A with a few of their birds and trainers. Then visitors are invited to spend the day outdoors connecting with nature.
Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden Programs
On Saturday, April 24 from 10am–4pm, there are hands-on, outdoor activities located in the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden. This festival features engaging learning experiences and special guest workshops, centered around celebrating the planet and learning how to take care of it for generations to come.
-Recycled City- Use all recycled materials to create a model of a future sustainable city throughout the day in collaboration with other members of the community.
-Vermicomposting- Learn the secret to awesome composting: worms! Discover how you can build your own vermicomposting bin at home.
-Wetlands in Action- Look up close at the life found in wetlands using real tools like microscopes and see how tiny invertebrates can tell us the health of these unique environments.
-Would You Drink That?- See how soil and plants can help filter water for our environment in an experiment you can try at home.
-Pollination Station- Create finger puppets to explore Moody Oasis, a rooftop pollinator garden, and try to find the perfect flower adapted for your pollinator.
-Go With The Flow- Play a fun game exploring the water cycle as a drop of water and make a bracelet to take home from your adventure.
-Plantable Pots- Discover how you can make your own pots to start seedlings that can actually be planted in the ground.
-Now You Sea Me…- Explore sea levels around the world and learn about the pH of the ocean and how these two things affect animals and people across the globe.
-Earth Is In My Hands- Share how YOU pledge to help the Earth with a simple and fun craft in the Exploration Center.

10am–4pm: Program presented by EarthX – Bumblebee pollination craft
10am–4pm: Tierra Rocks with Chicana in Nature – Learn about the formation of fossils as you create your own model and discover how rocks change over time. (Earth Cycles)
10am–4pm: Feed the Revolution with LatinX Dallas: Discover how to reduce food waste, eat healthier, and support food equity in your community (Incredible Edible)
11am and noon: The Dallas Opera performs Jack and the Beanstalk (Incredible Edible)
Artscape
Additionally, on April 24 and 25, guests are invited to the main garden to explore Artscape, a juried fine art and fine craft show and sale, where 85+ outstanding artists from around the country showcase and sell their art in the garden. In addition to artwork, many of which takes its inspiration from nature, the popular outdoor event features live music, free children’s ‘make and take’ art, concessions, food and wine/beer samplings.
Timed tickets are required and can be purchased online at www.dallasarboretum.org or by calling 214-515-6615. No walk-ups are available for purchase. Masks are also required for the duration of the visit.
