Join the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) for its inaugural Black History & Culture Celebration. This dynamic two-day event is packed with free fun and inspiring activities for all ages.
Explore powerful works by Black artists with the DMA's Looking Guide, get creative at the Write to Shine poetry mural and Unveiled: The Legacy of Freedman Town interactive art projects, and make your own unique buttons in the Open Studio.
Don’t miss thrilling spoken word performances, guided tours of the African art collection, a special film screening of Lead Belly: The Man Who Invented Rock & Roll, and even a portrait session with renowned artist Letitia Huckaby. Museum admission is free—don’t miss this celebration of art, culture, and history.

Open Studio: Make & Take
11am–4pm, Level 4, Tower Gallery and Studio
Create a pair of buttons based on something that inspires you. Take one button home and add the other to our community display or trade it a design you love made by someone else. All materials are provided, and all ages are welcome. The first hour of Open Studio is dedicated to providing a quiet space for participants with auditory and other sensory sensitivities.
