This program at Arlington's George W. Hawkes Downtown Library offers a welcoming atmosphere for young children with disabilities and their caregivers. Best for age 4 and younger. Families are invited to explore this relaxed playtime through hands-on, sensory-friendly activities as well as music, movement and stories. Meet in the Play Room.
Join this special play group on Thursdays to receive support, tips, and a sense of community from other families, library staff, and occasionally resource professionals that specialize in working with children with disabilities. You'll learn fine and gross motor skills, listening skills, social and emotional maturity.

The Play Room, which is lit by a wall of floor-to-ceiling stained glass windows, is a fun place to enjoy open-ended play which, allows children to socialize, build gross and fine motor skills, and cultivate their imaginations. There is an interactive play wall specially designed for early childhood development. The Play Room is for children ages birth to 5 years old and they must be accompanied by a parent.
