During Mental Illness Awareness Week (Oct 7-13), mental health advocacy nonprofit NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Dallas will be bringing to North Texas a Depressed Cake Shop fundraiser. What is Depressed Cake Shop? It’s a worldwide phenomenon that has raised much-needed funds for mental health charities around the world. The Depressed Cupcake Shop is a sweet way to make depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and other mental health conditions less taboo —in a totally tasty way.

The one-day pop-up bakery starts a conversation about mental health. The Depressed Cake Shop sells beautiful baked goods such as cakes, cupcakes, cookies, chocolates and donuts -- all donated by local bakers. When a baker becomes involved with the Depressed Cake Shop there is only one requirement, that the baked goods donated have an element of gray to signify the gray cloud that can descend over a beautiful world when someone is struggling with mental health issues.

The first Depressed Cake Shop North Texas on Saturday, October 13 at Ebar inside Nordstrom NorthPark Center, hosted by NAMI Dallas. All proceeds go to NAMI Dallas’ programming.

No entrance fee. Donations from baked goods.
