Description
The Fort Worth Zoo, in partnership with the Sign Language Interpreting Program at Tarrant County College (TCC), will host the second-annual Deaf Day on Saturday, Sept. 21, as an opportunity for members of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community to enjoy a day at the zoo.
The inaugural Deaf Day exemplified the zoo’s commitment to accessibility and providing education and recreation opportunities through which all guests can learn about animal care and conservation. The zoo hopes the second-annual Deaf Day extends that initiative to a larger audience.
During this event, American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters, provided by TCC, will be stationed throughout the zoo at areas such as zookeeper chats, giraffe feeding and select restaurant and merchandise locations to allow communication access to all guests.
Visit fortworthzoo.org/deaf-day for more details on the day, including the keeper chat schedule and accessibility information.
