Bug Lab

The Perot Museum of Nature and Science presents Bug Lab, a captivating exhibition exploring the remarkable genius of insects. This immersive exhibition invites visitors to discover how bugs' extraordinary adaptations inspire cutting-edge human innovation.

Developed by Te Papa, New Zealand’s groundbreaking national museum, and the five-time Academy Award-winning Wētā Workshop, the exhibition transforms visitors’ understanding of insects by highlighting their genius-level capabilities through dramatic, larger-than-life models and interactive learning stations. Developed by a team of leading entomologists and exhibition designers, Bug Lab offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience the world from a bug's perspective.

At Bug Lab, visitors will be able to discover how humans are applying the genius of bugs to solve some of the world’s toughest problems. Visitors will enjoy:

-Immersive Bug Chambers that recreate detailed environments, allowing visitors to experience firsthand the remarkable abilities of various insects, from the lightning speed of dragonflies to the lightning-fast reflexes of mantises.

-Interactive Adaptation Stations where visitors can test their skills against those bugs through engaging, hands-on activities that demonstrate the complexity of insect behavior and capabilities.

-Hands-On Labs where visitors can examine actual bug specimens and learn cutting-edge bug science and bio-inspiration through hands-on interaction.

Bug Lab is designed for visitors of all ages. The exhibit includes specific components created with multigenerational families in mind so children, parents, and grandparents can explore together, engaging with the fascinating world of insects through age-appropriate activities and displays.

The exhibition is supported in part by Visit Dallas and the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture.

Tickets:
-Museum general admission is $25 for adults (13+); $15 for youth (2–12); free for members, and free for children under 2.
-Bug Lab requires an additional ticket of $10 for adults, $8 for youth and free for children under 2.
-Tickets will go on sale beginning May 27 for Explore members and above, and May 29 for the general public.
-Members can purchase “Bug Lab” tickets at a discounted price of $6 for all age levels. To avoid lines and sell outs, visitors are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at perotmuseum.org.
