Take a relaxing walk along the shaded pathways, a splash in Toad Corners and a visit to the Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden. Named one of America’s most gorgeous botanical gardens, the Dallas Arboretum has many floral beds blooming with impatiens, lobelias, begonias, salvia, marigolds, zinnias, caladiums, lantana, cannas, vinca and pentas.
Also happening this August:
ZimSculpt exhibit on view through August 8 and free with admission. ZimSculpt features the talent of several contemporary Zimbabwean artists with more than 100 hand-selected, exquisite sculptures artfully displayed throughout the garden.
Cool off with some fantastic frozen treats for sale from local vendors. A portion of the sales supports the Dallas Arboretum.
Yelibelly: August 13 from 11am–2pm
Dunmore Delights: August 6 and 20, and September 3 from 11am–2pm
Steel City Pops: August 27 from noon–2pm
On August 7–8, get wild and wacky exploring the awesome world of animals at the Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden. Hunt around the garden as you create balancing birds, discover how animals under the water breathe, and learn about the real animal habitats found right here. Get ready for a “roaring” good time.
A Tasteful Place
Visitors can also see what’s growing in A Tasteful Place, the Arboretum’s 3.5-acre potager garden, pavilion and kitchen inspired by the movement toward growing and eating fresh, sustainable, locally-grown food. Guests are welcome to enjoy free samples of the “hero” vegetable daily. On Mondays, Dallas College offers free cooking demonstrations at 11am, and more activities occur throughout the month.
Guests are welcome to bring their own food or purchase food on-site. Window food service is available at the Terrace Café presented by Gil’s Elegant Catering and includes a selection of soups, salads, sandwiches, snacks, drinks and adult beverages.
Restaurant DeGolyer is also open for visitors daily from 11am–3pm. A three course seated tea at 11am and 2pm is also available with advanced registration: dallasarboretum.org/visitor-information/dining/seated-tea, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 214/515-6615.
