Evans Park in Plano

Location: 1601 Mollimar Drive, located at the intersection of Mollimar Drive and West 15th Street. The playground is behind Weatherford Elementary School in Plano.

What makes it noteworthy: Evans Park is a beautiful, partially fenced park. There are two slides, monkey bars, six swings (including two for babies) and a built-in tic-tac-toe board and alphabet wall. The play set, however, does look old, showing signs of wear and tear with faded paint and rusted spots.

Extras: The surrounding trees help shade the wheelchair-accessible playground and picnic tables, and benches, two grills, a hiking trail and practice fields for basketball and baseball make it a place the family can stay and play.

Safety: This playground received an A* on the Playground Safety Report Card. Besides the minor rust, the small stone ground cover was thin in spots, exposing the concrete beneath.
