The Westwood School’s Montessori program nurtures a natural love of learning, beginning at just 12 months old! As a Montessori and IB school, we believe students learn by doing, and grow by mentoring and supporting one another. That’s why we take an experiential approach to learning. From giving toddlers the responsibility to care for their own classrooms, to teaching hands-on Math and Science to elementary students, to giving older students the opportunity to run their own business through our IBeanery coffee shop, we encourage active learning through real-world experience.

At Westwood, we’re small by design, but big on belonging. We take the time to truly get to know your student and your family, so we can fully support your child throughout their academic journey. As a smaller school, we can provide the individual attention students need to excel.

We teach character as a core value, emphasizing the importance of honesty, respect and integrity. Students with strong character have respect for themselves and others, act with empathy and kindness, and are empowered to make wise choices throughout their lives.

Built on a foundation of Montessori principles and blended with the world-renowned International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, our academics give students the opportunity to explore their interests, develop their strengths, and graduate prepared for college and ready to continue learning. Founded in 1986, The Westwood School has been educating students for more than 40 years—and in 2025, we relocated to a new, modern facility in Addison that brings our whole community together, from toddler through 12th grade. Our new campus features classrooms, science labs, dedicated spaces for art, music, dance and theater, quiet study rooms and energizing community spaces like our IBeanery Coffee Shop. All four stories are connected by a bright and airy center atrium, filling the space with natural light and creating a sense of unity.
