Our Mission: Believing in the limitless potential of girls, Hockaday develops resilient, confident women who are educated and inspired to lead lives of purpose and impact.
Our Vision: Hockaday will engage every girl in a shared journey of discovery, integrity, scholarship, and accomplishment.
Hockaday awakens the intellectual curiosity of every girl and develops an enthusiastic spirit and love of learning. With a strong commitment to character, courtesy, scholarship, and athletics – the Four Cornerstones upon which The Hockaday School was founded in 1913 – our girls are committed to excellence. Miss Ela Hockaday believed that girls should have a progressive academic environment committed to preparing them for higher education and for life in a rapidly changing world. A Hockaday girl wholeheartedly embraces the exciting learning and leadership opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom, and is empowered to think and inspired to learn so she will one day leave Hockaday, confident to meet the possibilities that await her.
It is the philosophy and purpose of Hockaday to provide a college preparatory education for girls of strong potential and diverse backgrounds who may be expected to assume positions of responsibility and leadership in a rapidly changing world. Hockaday is the largest, independent all girls’ college preparatory school for day students (grades PK-12) and boarding students (grades 8-12) in the U.S. We are located on 88 acres in Dallas, Texas and have an enrollment of approximately 1,090 students. The difference at Hockaday is not just in the classroom, but in the combination of the community and culture we offer. Our all-girl education is a powerful and transformative experience.
The Hockaday School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, sexual orientation, religion, national or ethnic origin.
