River Legacy Living Science Center serves as the gateway to the adjacent 1,300-acre River Legacy Park. The 12,000-square-foot Nature Center features animal exhibits, a NEW Discovery Room, nature trails and Saturday events. The Discovery Room features two large aquariums, all new engaging exhibits and a 30-foot interactive screen allowing guests to virtually immerse themselves and interact with seasons and wildlife through a variety of games and scenes. Guests can explore an underwater world, splash in a virtual pond, discover what resources a riverbank provides for a variety of animals, hear the hiss of a rare Devil’s Cigar Fungus, and get a magnified look at some microscopic specimens found in River Legacy! The Environmental Stewardship Area of the Discovery Room will inspire guests to take action to keep our waters clean, pick up litter and recycle. We are excited to announce a NEW Traveling Exhibit called “The Nature of Things” featuring “Bee-Lieve It Or Not, the Secret Lives of Honey Bees,” coming to the Discovery Room from November 18, 2019 to February 21, 2020.
The Center also offers a variety of environmental education programming such as a Nature School Preschool, Summer Camps, After-School Clubs and Home School Science Classes. A variety of adult programs are also available, including monthly Artini Hours featuring an upcycled craft project, wine and refreshments.
The Science Center is open 9 am to 5 pm, Mondays through Saturdays. Discovery Room admission is $5 for adults; $3 for children and $4 for seniors.
