A Smithsonian Affiliate Institution located right here in DFW, Irving Arts Center offers a rich environment for families to experience and engage in the arts. Come and peruse free-to-view exhibitions in Irving Arts Center’s five galleries.
Plan a monthly outing the first Thursday of each month for JumpstART Stories & Art, a free story and craft time for kids. Or come for a Second Sunday Funday, another free program where parents and kids work together to craft masterpieces.
There’s always something happening at Irving Arts Center. During the summertime, Irving Arts Center plays host to art and theater camps for ages 4-16. For more than 25 years, these unique camps have provided opportunities for kids to experience a wide variety of art disciplines through hands-on learning from professional instructors and artists. Participants develop skills, self-confidence, creativity and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
Spring and fall typically feature a number of great family-oriented, entertaining and educational performances in the theaters: musical performances, puppet shows, theatrical productions and much more! It’s also a great time for families to explore the sculpture garden, a two-acre oasis featuring vibrant pools, a waterfall, fountains, a 66-foot long mural depicting historical images of Irving’s past, and several other largescale commissioned works. Make a day of it and pack a picnic!
In December, Irving Arts Center transforms into a winter wonderland of decorated trees. Visit Santa on “Santa Saturdays,” or take in Irving Arts Center’s biggest event of the year, the annual holiday open house extravaganza.
