Be An Angel

Be An Angel serves the needs of North Texas’ physically and medically fragile children and their families by providing a wide range of equipment, services and programs to improve their day-to-day lives. Founded in Houston in 1986, the 503(c) non-profit opened its DFW chapter in 2021, and its staff and team of volunteers are committed to contributing their time, energy and financial resources to help improve the quality of life for children with multiple disabilities, profound deafness and other medically fragile conditions.

Be An Angel believes every child is important in this world and that they can contribute to others in a meaningful way. Whether it’s a wheelchair, hearing aids or respite care for parents, the equipment, services and programs that Be An Angel provides help contribute to a longer, more productive life for the children it serves. Core to the charity’s mission is the belief that there is no greater expression of love and compassion than to commit to the service of others.

One example of the charity’s many programs is its long history of building barrier-free playgrounds that give special needs children and those with multiple handicaps the ability to play on a playground that is designed for their unique needs. To date, Be An Angel has installed 36 of these playgrounds in Houston and DFW, including at the Jo Kelly School in Fort Worth.

Another impactful program is Be An Angel’s annual Christmas Gift Program, which gifts $40 in toys and supplies to more than 6,100 children from 335 schools in 30 different Texas school districts, including North Texas. In DFW alone, Be An Angel has provided gifts for more than 660 children in the special needs programs in Dallas, Burleson, Mesquite and the Jo Kelly School in Fort Worth.
