We perked up as we walked toward Flower Mound’s small and quiet Cortadera Park, which earned an A on NorthTexasChild’s safety report card. Lined by neighboring homes, trees and with ducks swimming in the pond, it was the perfect setting for a family outing. Cortadera Park includes a soccer field, a full-size basketball court, two age-appropriate and revamped playscapes and a sturdy swing. The kids got a kick out of the steep slides and enjoyed climbing on the playscapes. We were relieved to find that the play areas were filled with rubber mulch for those guaranteed falls. In addition to a large swing set, Cortadera has multiple slides on both playscapes, as well as ladders and climbing structures. This playground can easily be found off of Cross Timbers and Morris streets.
