Cole Park in Dallas

Location: 4000 Cole Ave., at the intersection of Cole Avenue and Elizabeth Street in Dallas.

What makes it noteworthy: The red and green design of this park makes it feel a little like Christmas. But Cole Park is fun for kids year-round. There are two playsets for different age groups. The one for older kids has one large twisty slide, and the one for younger kids has three slides, including one double racing slide. There are also four swings — two for kids and two for babies.

Extras: In addition to the large slide, the older kids’ playset features a balance toy, monkey bars, a twisty pole, and a long pole to climb. The younger kids’ playset is fairly small, but it has a built-in tic-tac-toe game. A water fountain with three spouts makes hydrating convenient on hot days and a pavilion, trails, basketball and tennis courts add to the options of things to do.

Safety: This playground received an A* on the Playground Safety Report Card. There were no major safety concerns, no litter, graffiti or rust on this playground.
