Capp Smith Park, located off Hightower Drive and Whitley Road in Watauga, boasts more than 35 acres of wide-open land that take you away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The playground, which earned an A on FortWorthChild’s safety report card*, does show some age but is still in good condition, with multiple slides, monkey bars and climbing structures. There is a merry-go-round that my kids always hop on first and two sets of swings, for younger and older children. A lighted pathway leads past a baseball field to a lake area with an amphitheater and multiple pavilions available for rent. The main pavilion houses restrooms, a drink machine and a fish-bait machine. Come ready to spend all day, and don’t forget your fishing pole, baseball equipment and your bike or roller blades.
