Canyon Creek Park in Richardson

Location: 600 Aspenwood Drive, next to Canyon Creek Pool in Richardson

What makes it noteworthy: Canyon Creek Park has all the playground basics, even if the equipment is a little worn down. In addition to staples like slides and climbing ladders, the play set for older kids boasts monkey bars and a fireman’s pole, and both play sets have a wobbly bridge. Baby can swing safely in one of two baby swings, and kids will flock to the swingset for older kids, even though one of the four swings is missing.

Extras: A covered pavilion, baseball fields and plenty of green grass for tag and Frisbee are available. And since the playground shares a parking lot with Canyon Creek Pool, you can use the facility’s public restrooms during regular pool hours.

Safety: This playground received a B* on the Play- ground Safety Report Card due to cracks and rust. In addition, it would be easy for adventurous little ones to climb on the outside of the play equipment, which could prove dangerous.
