Children have a world of fun awaiting them at C.J. Hutchins Park Playground in Grapevine. Just a short distance from Great Wolf Lodge, the heart of the playground is made up of structures that are unlike what you’d typically see at area playgrounds, consisting of ropes, bars, plastic steps and pillars—all designed for climbing. Although the equipment is safe those around ages 5 and up, parents who bring younger children to the park should exercise caution. The structure is enticing to the eye and little adventurers will no doubt want to explore its many features. Though these climbing structures may be inviting, they are not labeled with age-appropriate advisories. Fortunately, the playground does have play structures on the peripheral that are appropriate for little ones, such as a swing set and two traditional structures complete with a slide, bridge and monkey bars. These structures have numerous safety features including easy visibility of children-at-play and equipment designed to prevent climbing outside the structure. Although there are no rules posted regarding expected behavior, C.J. Hutchins Park is clean, shaded and with extra supervision of young ones, a playground parents can feel comfortable spending an afternoon at with their family.
