Book Review: “Sisters First”

get a sneak peek at the new children's book by Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush

Sisters First, by Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush, is a sweet story about a big sister welcoming her little sister into the world.

The older sister prays and prays for a new little sister to come along; it is her biggest wish. She dreams of someone she can play and laugh with. Once the new sister arrives, big sis discovers the baby can’t do much yet. But as the story continues, little sis starts to grow up, and the sisters become inseparable. They go on adventures, play make believe and become smarter, kinder and braver than they imagined.

The book draws from Bush Hager and Pierce Bush’s childhoods and their sisterly bond; it’s also what they call a “love story” for all the other close female friendships women have throughout their lives. “It is our wish for all women and girls—whether blood sisters or dear friends—that the power of sisterhood fills their lives with confidence and joy,” they said.

The book goes on sale Nov. 12.
