Beaver Run Park in Fairview

Our Grade: 3.5/5

Where is it? 110 Elisabeth Way, Fairview. Tucked away in the tranquil Thompson Springs neighborhood.

What makes it special? The play structure itself is small, but four swings, two beaver spring riders and a tiny climbing wall will keep the kiddos occupied for a short afternoon excursion.

What else? The park is fronted by woods with a walking trail to a beaver pond. A pavilion with picnic tables provides a shady place to watch your kids tackle the slides or play a game of knockout on the basketball court.

Is it safe? There is not a special area for kids ages 2–5, so make sure they stay away from some of the “big kid” features, like the spiral fireman’s pole that’s 15 inches away from the platform. The three slides are a safe bet – padded landing areas will forestall any bumpy landings (and ensuing crying jags). The equipment shows some rust but is otherwise in good condition. The park scored a B* for overall safety.
