Baker Bros Deli

Vibe: It looks and feels like your average Deli franchise, but the soups, salads and sandwiches Baker Bros serves up are much tastier than you may initially expect.

Why it's tot-friendly: Your little eater can take his pick from a simplistic menu that includes kid-sized baked potatoes, a cheese pizza (on homemade dough), a sandwich (with their choice of meat) and a hot dog. (Give in to your kiddo’s pleading for the Baker's Brownies!) All gourmet sandwiches are available to be “halved,” making for a great lighter meal option.

Be sure to try: You might not think to order a pizza from a deli, but the Baker Bros pizzas are worth the extra calories (they are made on thick, fresh made dough). Try out the Veggie Pesto pizza, complete with roasted onions, peppers and mushrooms on a sun-dried tomato pesto base with mozzarella, parmesan and romano cheeses. Delish! Also good to try: The North Beach specialty sandwich (a roasted chicken breast on a yummy “Farm Bread” roll, served with basil pesto, provolone and red onion).

Good to know: The Baker Bros Deli menu allows visitors to order their specialty sandwiches in half-sizes (called "Cafe"), accompanied by a soup or side salad. The perfect serving size!

Best time to go with kids: Anticipate a crowd? Call your order in, and it’ll be ready for pick-up, anytime. Otherwise, most locations have a fairly large dining area (and some even have outdoor seating), keeping crowds at bay.
