If you and your kids haven’t checked out the brand-new playground equipment at Abbott Park, near the intersection of Abbott and Auburndale, you’re missing out on a fun place to play on a hot summer day! The playscape, which debuted in June, earned an A on DallasChild’s Safety Report Card.*
With natural shade provided by mature trees, the play area offers three separate playscapes with plenty to do for kids of all ages. Little ones will love the springy ride-ons, mini crawl-throughs and play structures with a cute house theme complete with shuttered windows. Older children will like the playground’s numerous slides, from tall and twisty to short and sweet. The play area has a cute safari theme, with a monkey crawl-through, a hippo climb-on and handy ramps from the sidewalk to the play area that feature different animals’ footprints (and make it easy to get your stroller closer to the equipment!).
Bring a tasty lunch to enjoy at the kid-sized picnic tables, conveniently set in the park’s shadiest spot.
