1) La Duni // Dallas
This wonderful Latin café has to take the No. 1 spot because of the rich chocolate in both the French and Latin hot chocolates. Not looking for something hot? Try the Viennese Truffle Iced Chocolate Milk. (Wow.) See the menu here.
Editor’s Pick: Latin Hot Chocolate for the extra foamy-ness or Duni Cappuccino (no chocolate but still so yummy). And of course, it goes down better with a pastry.

4620 McKinney Ave., Dallas214/520-7300

2) Halcyon // Dallas
Get it to-go or hang out with the family while sipping your choice of traditional hot chocolate, salted caramel, peppermint, peanut butter or Mayan hot chocolate (yum). For parents who want to make theirs more…spirited, order a hot chocolate cocktail flight. The coffee bar turns into more of a coffee lounge later in the day with killer cocktails and events. (Stay tuned for the next scheduled trivia nights).
Editor’s Pick: Flight of four for hot chocolates, Cortado for coffee and frankly all of the seasonal cocktails for the evening.

2900 Greenville Ave., Dallas; 469/547-2265

3) Summer Moon // Multiple locations
Need a large fix of that warm, chocolatey goodness? This coffee shop known for its Moon Milk blends its signature sweet cream with hot chocolate for a warm treat, and for its frozen version for a spin on the classic.
Editor’s Pick: Hot chocolate with whip, or the Cinnamoon Latte with Moon Milk and wood-fired espresso.

4) Ascension Coffee // Multiple locations
This spot is definitely a favorite because 1) how many locations there are and 2) the amazing coffee that’s available if you would prefer a white chocolate peppermint latte while your little sips on hot cocoa or a chocolate frappe.
Editor’s Pick: Lavender Latte or Salted Caramel Mocha Latte

5) Astoria Caffe & Wine Bar // Addison
We just love how quaint this café is (and it’s a fabulous little spot for a date night). Depending on your current internal temperature, you can get one of their chocolately drinks three ways: hot, iced (on the rocks) or frozen (which they also their “20-degree below frozen hot chocolate,” the consistency is like a slushy), and each topped with house-made whipped cream. Plus, this is within walking distance to a handful of local parks, so if the weather forecast is not actually 20 below zero, you can take your cocoa to-go for a jaunt around Addison Circle Park.
Editor’s Pick: Hot chocolate with whip, or the Milky Way Latte with caramel and espresso

15701 Quorum Drive, Addison; 972/239-5853

6) Mudleaf Coffee // Plano
This place keeps it simple, but their hot chocolate sure is tasty thanks to the additions of vanilla and homemade mocha syrup. Get it hot with steamed milk or chilled for super yummy chocolate milk, and if you can, snag a seat in one of the two hanging rattan chairs.
Editor’s Pick: Hot chocolate or Chai Latte

3100 Independence Parkway, Suite 300, Plano469/931-2233

7) Buon Giorno Coffeehouse & Roastery // Grapevine & Fort Worth
We love anything with an Italian flair—and that definitely extends to hot chocolate and coffee. Check out this spot’s must-try European Hot Chocolate. You won’t see it on the online menu but it’s still available to order on-site and made with an in-house mix, whole milk, and half and half. Want some coffee with your sweet? You won’t be disappointed at the latte options available.

Editor’s Pick: European Hot Chocolate and Italian sodas

2350 Hall Johnson Road, Grapevine; 817/421-7300
500 W. 7th St., Fort Worth; 817/378-4505
