6 Ways to Pamper Yourself on Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is rapidly approaching, and while we know you will absolutely adore the finger paint and Popsicle stick creations your little ones have planned, we’d like to suggest a few other options for making this Mother’s Day one for the books. We say, take matters into your own hands this year. Pick one or two (or all) of our suggestions for primo pampering and get a few minutes of that elusive thing called R&R.

1. Give Yourself a Facial
Chances are your kitchen is stocked with just about everything you need for a DIY at-home facial. Give our recipe a try or make a concoction of your own.

Lemon, honey, milk and cucumber mask:

Ingredients:
1 tsp. honey

A few drops of fresh squeezed lemon juice (just 3–4)

3 tsp. milk

Half a cucumber pureed in food processor

Mix all ingredients together thoroughly. Spread onto your face using hands or brush. Gently massage the mask onto your face with fingers and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse mask off thoroughly with water and a gentle cleanser.

2. Get a Blow Out
Between making lunches and running carpool, beauty and grooming comes in pretty low on the priority list – like, dead last. But, Mother’s Day is your day. So do something out of the ordinary, take an hour to yourself and go get beautified with a blow out at a local blow out bar. No need for a major hairstyle change or expensive haircut – the blow dry pros will wash and style your hair for a reasonable price.

3. Have a Cocktail Hour
No need to leave the house. Play mixologist from the comfort of your own kitchen with a DIY cocktail hour.

Try the Raspberry Moscato Lemonade:

Ingredients:
1 tbsp. lemon juice
Frozen raspberries
1 tsp. white sugar
Moscato wine

In the bottom of a glass, mash together raspberries, lemon juice and sugar. Top with your desired amount of Moscato (we used 6–7 oz.) and serve over ice.

For a nonalcoholic libation simply sub the Moscato with 7UP or Sprite.

4. Give Yourself a Mani/Pedi
Sometimes a little color on your toes is all it takes to put a smile on your face. Take a few minutes to polish your digits and be amazed at what it can do for your mood.

Colors we’re crushing on:
Zoya’s Breezi – a beautiful blue from the Summertime Collection.
Essie’s First Timer – the perfect mint green for spring.

5. Catch Up on Your Scrapbook or Journal
Give yourself a healthy dose of therapy by taking some time to finish up that scrapbook or write in your journal. Not the type to write paragraphs about your innermost thoughts and feelings? Check out Wreck this Journal, a journal for non-journalers by Keri Smith at kerismith.com.

6. Take a Nap!
Do you remember what those are? Go ahead, put the hubby on kid duty and give it a try …
