5 DIY Beauty Products

from lip masks to under eye treatment

Thinking about using some home remedies to spice up your skincare routine? Check these out! All five DIY beauty products are super simple but definitely effective.

DIY Lemon Sugar Hand Scrub

Perfect if you’ve been doing too many dishes and messing around with the kid’s glitter glue.

What You’ll Need:

2/3 cup of sugar
¼ cup of coconut oil or olive oil (if using standard coconut oil, melt it to liquid in the microwave)
15 drops of lemon essential oil or 1 Tbsp. of fresh lemon juice

What You’ll Do:

Grab a mixing bowl. Place all the ingredients in the bowl and mix. That’s it!

The finished texture should be semi-dry, like sand but a little damp, and look like a thick hand cream. Feel free to adjust to get the right texture by adding more sugar or more lemon juice/oil (or both).

DIY Lip Mask for Dry and Chapped Lips

Give those dry lips the moisture they crave.

What You’ll Need:

½ Tbsp. organic cane sugar
½ Tbsp. filtered honey

What You’ll Do:

Mix the ingredients and gently rub along your lips. Rinse off after five minutes (max). Follow up with lip balm.

Pro Tip: This may be too abrasive for sensitive or irritated skin, so use this only for dry lips. And use it just once a week.

DIY Face Mask for Dry Skin

Two ingredients and great for all skin types.

What You’ll Need:

Half an avocado, mashed
1 Tbsp. honey

What You’ll Do:

Mix the two ingredients and spread all over your face. Wash off after 10–20 minutes. Voila!

DIY Mask for Puffy Eyes

Consider this your new wake-me-up!

What You’ll Need:

1 egg white
2 tsp. unused coffee grounds

What You’ll Do:

Beat together the ingredients until the mixture is frothy (about one minute). With your clean hands or a brush, apply the mask around and under the eyes. Allow the mask to sit for 10 minutes. Use a wet towel to clean off the mask. Follow up with eye cream.

DIY Tea Bag Mask for Dark Circles

Use your choice of black tea, green tea or even herbal tea to treat those dark circles under your eyes.

What You’ll Need:

Tea bags

What You’ll Do:

Put a few used tea bags in the refrigerator for five to ten minutes. Dampen the tea bags and rest them on your eyes for 10–15 minutes. That’s it!
