It’s official—the 50th annual Earth Day is going digital. On April 22, the world will tune in and observe the holiday in the comfort of their home (and PJs). 

Between zoo live cams to features and short films, you and your kiddos will stay busy this Earth Day with these virtual celebrations across Texas and beyond. 

Citizen Science Webinar | Frisco

You and your kids can discover worldwide projects that scientists need your help to finish. This Zoom meeting from 10:30–11:15AM on Earth Day will include games and puzzles that help NASA and other researchers uncover more knowledge of Earth and space. Find the Zoom link on the website above. 

Earth Day Network | Worldwide

Ever been curious how other countries celebrate this environmental holiday? The Earth Day Network is the hub for all things Earth Day with its digital map that showcases registered events worldwide. Take a virtual field trip to places like Cape Town or Perth and see how the locals celebrate. 

Earth Day: Be the Solution | Dallas 

Join Unify Humanity as it holds a 90-minute live stream on Earth Day at noon, with a nondenominational prayer for the planet, spoken word from inspirational speaker Dallas Cyr and more impactful leaders. Attendance is free, just RSVP on the website to secure your spot. 

EarthX | Dallas

EarthXFilm will be streaming 36 features and shorts, various live-streams, Q&A’s, panels and EarthXFilmYouth programming. Music kicks off the event at 5PM, April 17, but the bulk of the programming will be April 22–27 from 1–9PM daily. For the full schedule, visit the link above.

NuMinds Enrichment is holding a 24-hour challenge on Earth Day, where people are encouraged to repurpose and reuse simple items around the home. The website will contain links to free instructional videos on how to safely submit and share your repurposed items online.

San Diego Zoo | San Diego

The San Diego Zoo will be hosting a lot of at-home activities on Earth Day. From Facebook Live feeds of zoo animals to Earth Day coloring pages, the activities will keep your little ones busy while they learn about wildlife conservation. 

Texas Parks and Wildlife | Surfside

Swing by Texas Outdoors Family Facebook live stream, where it will introduce the six R’s (Ranger Reznicek, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Refuse) and why Earth Day is an important holiday. The Facebook page includes a lot of informative, short videos on wildlife and other educational videos, such as indoor nature-themed art programs. 

Virtual Earth Day Celebration | Kemah

Starting at 10AM, this five-hour Facebook Live stream from the Galveston Bay Foundation will include 10 to 15-minute live video segments that promote a healthy bay and healthy planet. The foundation also plans to talk about activities and actions you can do at home to celebrate 50 years of Earth Day.
