In Texas, fall can still feel like summer with 90-plus degree days in October. But that doesn’t mean your home has to feel that way. We have some simple ideas for you on how to make your home fall-festive for the new season.

1. Swap out your throw pillows
Get your home autumn-ready with seasonal throw pillows. And it’s easy since there are so many to choose from: ones with traditional fall colors, ones with cute phrases, ones that already fit within your room’s color scheme.

2. Bring out the candles
It’s well known that a smell can bring back vivid memories, so add a memorable scent to your home.

Have too many littles to have an open flame around? Look for battery operated flickering candles. Some even have a remote timer and look like the real deal.

3. Go crazy with pumpkins, leaves and more
A sure way to make your home feel like fall is in the air is to decorate your mantel, front porch, front door and/or dining table with all kinds of pumpkins, fall leaves, maybe some bales of hay and scarecrows too.

Pro tip: try dried sheaves of wheat instead of flowers in your vases or standing alone with a ribbon tied around the center. It gives your home that harvest-y feeling.

4. Throw in some cozy blankets
We all know the best way to get cozy is with a snuggly throw blanket. Whether it’s something fuzzy like this one or goes with your fall theme, adding an autumn blanket will make your room ready for cuddles.

5. Swap out your wall décor
If you have bright-colored, floral or summery wall décor, consider swapping those out for the season for prints of pumpkins, autumn leaves or fall-themed phrases instead.
