Dayna, a professional party planner, shared that her kids prefer low-key birthday parties, so she kept it simple with decorations. Thunderbird’s neon interiors and old-fashioned arcade games offered the perfect backdrop, which she spruced up with decorations from Amazon, including an ’80s birthday banner and rainbow-colored paper plates and cups.
Olivia looked pretty in pink, donning a magenta lace-and-zebra ’80s outfit. Before lacing up their skates, the birthday girl and her 14 costumed friends loaded up on jelly bracelets, scrunchies, slap bracelets, fishnet gloves and slat sunglasses. Dayna noted that plenty of parents stayed around for the party to jam out to the rad tunes and take a spin around the rink themselves.
Guests munched on pizza and hot dogs, but the highlight of the party was the epically ’80s dessert table. An array of retro-themed cookies, cake balls and candies (like Fun Dip and Pop Rocks) surrounded the birthday cake. The three-tiered confection was decorated to reflect the decade’s biggest trends like Rubix Cubes, Pac-Man and even Run-DMC.
