Welcome to the Neighborhood
Irving is the crossroads of North Texas, with easy access to Dallas and Fort Worth (and anywhere in the world via DFW Airport). But there’s plenty to do without leaving the city—or really, cities: Irving and Las Colinas are distinct communities with lots of opportunities for outdoor fun, a thriving social scene for the adults and funky festivals for the whole family. And now that the new Toyota Music Factory has moved in, Irving is a destination in its own right.

● BIG STATE FOUNTAIN GRILL
This mid-century soda fountain is like a time warp, complete with red vinyl swivel chairs at the bar, old-fashioned milkshakes and a gift store with lots of candy. Its standard diner fare (read: stuff the kids will eat) can draw big crowds when there’s an event in downtown Irving—we recommend going on a quieter day.
