Welcome to the Neighborhood
It seems like new businesses and restaurants are breaking ground every day in The Colony. Case in point: Urban8, a food court-slash-hangout spot set to open this month. With all the development along Highway 121, plus longtime family favorites like Hawaiian Falls and Hidden Cove Park, the affordable town sandwiched between Carrollton and Lake Lewisville is becoming more than just a lakeside community with a small-town feel—though it is very much still those things too, a selling point for families who want modern amenities away from the busyness of Dallas or West Plano. Neighboring communities in North Carrollton and Castle Hills—a master-planned development that’s basically a town of its own—are situated to take advantage of attractions in The Colony, Frisco and Dallas but have tons of residential amenities to offer families. The hilly neighborhoods of North Carrollton are punctuated by golf courses, modest retail strips and green spaces; you’ll often find families walking or biking the meandering Carrollton Greenbelt. In the middle of North Carrollton (though technically part of Lewisville), Castle Hills has the ideal package for families: spacious homes; broad, manicured streets; more than 25 parks and playgrounds with imaginative themes; a private country club with a pool and golf course; shops and restaurants on-site where residents gather; and kid-friendly events throughout the year—no wonder the community continues to grow.
