Burger House

Vibe: With its red checkered tablecloths and booths, Burger House oozes with old-fashioned diner charm. The smell of grilled burgers is impossible to resist. Burger House doesn’t stray far from a traditional burger, but offers chili burgers that are a bit messy, but quite tasty.

Why it's tot-friendly: It’s a family friendly atmosphere, and the food is tasty. Kids can pick from a special menu that has all the staples: burgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, and chicken tenders.

Be sure to try: Burger House is most famous for its special seasoned fries. Don’t forget to get a side along with your burger! Also, shakes and malts are thick and creamy. Perfect to wash down those fries.

Good to know: The original location, off Hillcrest in Dallas, is also the smallest, so it can get packed at peak times. It may be easier to order take out and bring it home. The UT Southwestern location on Harry Hines is convenient if you're already at the complex, but it can be hard to find (and expensive to park) unless you know your way around.

Best times to go with kids: Skip the grill and blistering heat. Instead, round up the kids after soccer practice and bring them to Burger House to reenergize.
