10 Simple, Easy Valentine’s Day Decorations & Crafts

make your home feel a little more festive

Valentine’s Day is almost here, and while you might already have your gifts picked out or your reservations made for a date night, have you decorated the house at all?

Of course, you don’t have to go all out. But we love any excuse to make the home feel more festive.

Check out these simple Valentine’s Day decorations!

VALENTINE HEART GARLAND

This one is so simple, and you can make it with the kiddos! Place these garlands along the kitchen table edge or the fireplace mantel. All you need is either construction or cardstock paper in pink and/or red, scissors or a paper cutter and a stapler. Click on the link for step-by-step instructions.

POM POM WREATH

This would be a super cute addition to your front door or hanging over your fireplace. You’ll need a bunch of red, white and pink pom poms, hot glue and a wreath base. Use the glue gun to place the pom poms all over the wreath base, covering it entirely. Click on the link to see a good example of the finished product.

VALENTINE’S DAY PRINTABLES

Talk about easy. All you have to do is click and print. For larger sizes, we recommend having them printed at a print shop like Fedex Kinkos or Walgreens. Put the printables in your choice of frame and place them wherever they best suit your home. Click on the link for some really cute printables, including a “Be Mine” sign, X’s and O’s, or a pink and white “Love” print.

FINGERPAINT HEART ART

Here’s another craft the kids can get involved with: fingerpainting! Grab a few white canvases from Michael’s, Joann’s or Hobby Lobby, and bring out the red and pink finger paints.

Before getting your kid’s fingers covered in paint, consider drawing a faint heart outline with a pencil on the canvas so your kiddos stay inside the lines. Then place the beautiful canvases on the fireplace mantel or, if they’re small enough, attach a magnet and add it to your fridge gallery.

VALENTINE’S CANDY TREES

This one will take some time and patience, but the trees will look great on your kitchen island or bookshelf. All you need are some Styrofoam craft cones (in various sizes), hot glue and glue gun, assorted Valentine’s candy (best are gummy hearts, peppermint marshmallows and conversation hearts) and ribbon for the tree topper. Click the link for step-by-step instructions.

HEART TABLE RUNNER

Another super simple DIY project, the heart table runner requires foam hearts (or you can cut cardstock paper hearts) and hot glue. Then it’s as easy as gluing them end to end. Click the link to see a good example as well as some tips on how to put it together.

PINK, WHITE AND RED BAUBLE-FILLED GLASS JARS

Grab a set of different-sized glass jars and fill them with pink, red and white candies, fabric flowers, basically anything! These would be beautiful as a dining table centerpiece or placed on your fireplace. Click the link for a good example.

MASON JAR X’S AND O’S VASES

HANGING CANDY HEARTS FOR OUTDOORS

Want to decorate the exterior of your home a bit more for Valentine’s Day? Grab some fun, outdoor hanging candy hearts from Walmart. It comes with a set of nine, but you’ll need to grab either string or fishing line to hang them with, as that part is not included. How cute!
