Helping Houston / Ways to Help Houston Now
As we watch our fellow Texans get drenched, devastated and torn apart by Hurricane Harvey and its lingering effects, it's hard to stand idly by and do nothing. Organization: ACH Child and Family Services, Fort Worth
For: Houston-area youth evacuated from the hurricane
Needs: Monetary donations to help young evacuees who are staying at ACH; donate online here. ACH could also use $50 and $100 gift cards to Target and Walmart. Drop off gift cards to the address below 8am–5pm Monday–Friday.

Organization: City of Fort Worth and Tarrant County
For: Evacuees in Fort Worth shelters
Needs: Baby diapers and formula, unopened packs of socks and underwear for all ages, blankets, towels, plus-size clothing. Do not drop off donations at shelters. Instead, Fort Worth Goodwill stores are collecting donations; click here for a map of drop-off locations.
Organization: Dallas County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD)
For: Evacuees in Dallas-area shelters
Needs: New underwear, new socks, new warmups for all ages, pillows and pillowcases, blankets, flip-flops for showering, towels and washcloths, toiletries/hygiene products, baby items (formula, wipes, bottles, diapers, Pack 'n Plays). Drop off items to Trusted World at the address below from 3pm–8pm through Friday, Sept. 1.

Organization: Dallas ISD
For: Hurricane evacuees now attending Dallas ISD schools
Needs: School supplies. Miguel Solis, who represents District 8 on the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees, organized a school supply drive for these kids. Visit the website below for a list of needed supplies and deliver them to Solis' office (address below) between 8:30am–4:30pm, Monday–Friday.

Organization: Fort Worth Zoo
For: The Texas Zoo in Victoria, which was heavily damaged by the hurricane
Needs: The Fort Worth Zoo is sending a team to assist with cleanup. Monetary donations are needed to purchase supplies; donate online here.
Organization: Greater Houston Community Foundation
For: Victims in the Houston area affected by the floods
Needs: Mayor Sylvester Turner established the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund to accept tax deductible monetary donations.
Organization: Houston Food Bank
For: Disaster relief for those in need, and hunger-relief once disaster-related needs are met
Needs: Monetary donations only, the food bank is closed due to flooding
Organization: Houston Texans' J.J. Watt's Houston Flood Relief Fund
For: Those who have endured damage or loss in the wake of Hurricane Harvey
Needs: Monetary donations for this crowdfunding initiative iniated by NFL player J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans.
Organization: North Texas Food Bank
For: Evacuees in North Texas who need food now and in the coming months.
Needs: The most effective way to help is to donate money here. You can also contact local partner pantries to find out their immediate needs; click here to see a map of partner agencies near you.

For: Pets and shelther animals evacuated from the hurricane
Needs: Toys, pet care items and office supplies. The SPCA has set up an Amazon wish list; click here to see and purchase what they need right now. Especially look for items marked high priority!

For: Displaced families living in Houston and Corpus Christi-area shelters
Needs: Undergarments (diapers, tampons, feminine hygiene products, bras, underwear) for affected Texan children, women and men. Click here to make a monetary donation or click here to make a purchase from the nonprofit's Amazon wish list.

For: Hurricane evacuees staying at the recreation center
